R.M. MAPS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE OFFICE

RM maps are available for sale at the RM office. The maps are available free to ratepayers upon receipt of property taxes and $20.00 each to non-ratepayers. Maps can be mailed for an additional cost of $2.50 each.

The RM provides grading, snow plowing and mowing on municipal roads. Operation of private equipment on municipal roads is not permitted without the approval of the RM.

Information about your Volunteer Fire Department

The Montrose Volunteer Fire Department provides fire and rescue services for the Municipality. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can contact the Fire Chief Travis Loewen at 306-493-7419.

Please note that dumping fees will be collected at the time of disposal according to the fee schedule noted below.  

The following is not accepted at the waste transfer site:

• Tires
• Chemical herbicide or pesticide containers,
• Animal corpses, remains or wastes,
• Rotten grains, straw or feed,
• Liquid wastes,
• Petroleum containers, tanks or filters,
• Freon or other gas containers.

The following is accepted at the waste site in the designated bins and areas:  NO unwashed containers are accepted.

• Plastic bags containing garbage
• Burning barrel ashes
• Cardboard, paper and clean plastic and rinsed tin cans without labels
• Rinsed beverage containers/food jars
• Unfinished lumber and trees
• Household appliances with mercury switches and Freon removed
• Scrap metal
• Concrete

All loads of loose garbage, appliances with mercury switches or Freon will be charged at the rate of $60.00 per load equal to a one half ton truck load with a half ton load minimum of $30.00.  $150.00 per load in any larger truck.

Items brought to the Transfer Station are to be placed in the bins and/or piles for disposal. If you have unwanted items that are not for disposal please use other venues such as Kijiji or donation centers. Fines are applicable for unauthorized removal of items from the Transfer Station.

The RM currently does not offer waste oil collection, however we do recommend the below company for these needs.

Duncan’s Environmental Services provides waste oil collection, oil filter recycling and used antifreeze and plastic collection. Call (306)648-7640.

The RM provides pest control services to ratepayers free of charge. Annual inspections are performed by the pest control officer. A small amount of poison/bait will be provided upon request free of charge, bait stations are available for a fee. The RM office will no longer be handing out poison or bait, please contact the PCO, Owen Zoerb, to make arrangements.
